John Lewis, Bubblebag, D&AD Pencil winner

Brief- Reinvent the packaging that John Lewis uses to deliver online purchases, John Lewis are looking for innovative structural packaging formats that protect the products during shipping, but also make them stand out from their competitors.

Solution- John lewis introduces the new eco friendly packaging solution... the bubblebag. The bubblebag ensures maximum protection of the product, it surrounds the item with air, and inflates the pouches either side of the product. The pop resistant, 100% recyclabubble bag provides you with the certainty that our products will not only arrive in style but in pristine condition too.
To extend the life of the bubblebag the consumer would be encouraged to recycle the bubblebag in a specialist bin found at any John Lewis or Waitrose stores. Every bubble bag would have a barcode featured which would then be linked bag to the customers account. For every 6 bags which are returned the consumer is able to have a free cup of tea/hot drink.
Having a peel off label on the bubblebag means that returns are made hassle free. The main idea is to provide the consumer with an easy way to recycle the bubblebag by mail. Just peel off the label and pop it in the post. Once the bubblebag has been returned the consumer can get their loyalty card stamped in a quest to gain a hot drink. The return of unwanted goods could also be returned this way.
